My last Greyhound Trip took me from Rainbow Beach to Brisbane. Here I stayed at Brisbane City Backpackers which is located a 10 minute walk away from the Train/Bus Station. This is particularly convenient if like me, you are arriving from or going to the Airport as there is a direct train to the airport for $17.50 (one way).

The hostel is also very close to The Barracks which is a shopping area with restaurants, bars, shops and a cinema. The main city centre is also a short walk away so the location of this hostel is pretty ideal. A fair few free perks are also available i.e. free wifi zone, pool, cinema area so overall I had a good stay and I would recommend it to others.

This was my last stop down the East Coast (for now) before having to return back to Cairns to start working so I spent a couple of days just relaxing and exploring the city. I hadn't heard the most positive feedback about Brisbane but I have to say I was pleasenetly surprised.

The centre of the city reminds me a bit of London, it is separated by a river with a few bridges going across. On one side of the river there is an area called Southbank Parklands which reminds me of  Embankment (In London) shops, restaurants and cafes.

Here I came across the Nepal Peace Pagoda pictured below. It is a beautiful temple made of Nepalese timber, surrounded by secluded and lush gardens. It is a very peaceful spot in the middle of a busy city.

Further along my walk, I also came across a street market held in an area full of quirky cafes, eateries and boutique shops.  Unfortunately due to an accident involving my mobile phone I lost most of the pictures from that day. The one that remains is below:

Next I will be flying back to Cairns where I have been offered a job. I plan to stay here and work for a few months to save more money, before continuing on my travels.

It is an exciting prospect to stop somewhere long enough where I will be able to establish new friendships and feel more settled for a while. I am also excited to bring you along with me!
